Hi, and welcome to Our NOT Instagram Life! I'm Yooky, the main writer/photographer for the blog. There's also M, the other slave caregiver to our two dogs, the voice of reason and keeper of my sanity. We currently live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest and share our life with 2 senior dogs who pretty much take up majority of our time and focus. We've been talking about creating a blog for quite some time now, but I wondered if and why I should devote the little free time that I have to maintaining one. Besides, isn't blogging a dying breed anyways? In the age of Twitter and Instagram, do people even bother to write and read more than a line or two anymore? Do I have the patience to write at this time? Do I even remember how to? Well, after going back and forth and sitting on the idea for several months, I recently felt a greater sense of urgency in seeing how rapidly my dogs seem to be aging lately (Misty, especially)...so I finally pulled the trigger!
The main reason for creating this blog was because my current social media outlets (Flickr, Instagram) felt a bit limited in my desire to journal our life with the ever changing needs and challenges of our aging dogs. So this will be more of a diary with lots of candid shots capturing moments and less of the carefully posed, curated shots--some of those will undoubtedly still get featured, but I'll reserve the more "beautiful" shots for my Flickr and Instagram accounts. Mostly, it'll serve as a personal notebook (and an outlet for my occasional venting), but if some of what we share somehow end up helping other senior dog parents out there, then that would be a plus! I know we've done more than our share of research over the years and found a ton of useful information in the blogosphere and have always found comfort in reading about other people's personal experiences.
So, without further ado, here are the stars of this blog, Misty and Jasper! They have been our babies since we adopted them nearly 13.5 years ago, first Misty and then Jasper 8 months later...time sure flies.☺️ I hope you'll get to know this quirky duo who have matured from two crazy wild puppies to two loving gentle souls.
